This technique I found is a relatively easy and normal way to glaze, using regular glazed and can be fired in a kiln or any other type of fire you desire. this different part about it is that it uses rubber cement in order to get designs on the bisque. The bisque was glazed and then painted with a design with rubber cement. After allowing the rubber cement to dry, it was then again dipped into another color glaze and allowed to dry once again. Then before firing the rubber cement was just peeled off to allow the design to become the negative space. I think this technique is really cool and it could be really easy to get intricate designs on pottery. I feel like if the art department could invest in some rubber cement, then we could definitely do this in class. |
