This was probably one of my favorite projects to do. I decided that I wanted to make a lidded vessel in the shape of an ice cream cone. I first started off by making the cone which was my base by using a coil method and building it up and out as I went out. After i had it all smooth and well sculpted I went on to the lid which would be the ice cream of the cone. I wanted this to be hollow as well so it wouldn't be very heavy. This I made by taking a really long coil and the swirling it on top of itself to create the classic ice cream cone look. I then blending everything together on the inside and made sure it was all connected and carved out any excess clay that I didn't need. To make the lid stay and fit into the base I created a small lip inside the lip that was smaller than the opening on the base which made it able to fit into the cone and then sit inside it securely. After everything was fired I decided I wanted to make it cotton candy looking ice cream so I glazed the entire lid with white and the sponged on a blue color and matte pink then put a final clear glaze on it so it shines. The only real problem I had with this project was making sure the lip was going to fit into the base and it wouldn't fall out. Also the fact that it was an odd shape was difficult to make with coils. Other than that I feel like this projects turned out great!
