For the first of my three cups, I decided to make a cup, or so a mug that resembled one off my favorite animals the owl. The process of making this cup was fairly easy. I decided I was going to use the coil method and build the cup up. Once I had the basic shape of my mug done I stuffed it with newspaper to help it maintain that shape. Once the basic shape was dried a little bit to a plastic or leather hard I made some of the pieces like the wings, beak, and mug handle and scored and slipped them on and blended to ensure they stayed on. For the eyes I carved then out and I also added a few textures on the wings and body of the owl to give it a realistic appearance. After the bisque fire i decided i wanted to glaze it using a lustrous jade over the top of a textured amber brown. The ending result couldn't be any more beautiful and I'm really glad with how this came out. While making this I realized using coils probably wasn't the best route to take because it took a lot of work and evening out the clay but other that that I feel it came out great.
